The journey from a personal trainer to full blown gym owner is full of obstacles and challenges. But it’s also filled with moments of excitement and glory as you make those big wins… from signing your very first client to your first 5-figure month. At the end of the day it is all worth it because you’re spending your time helping people achieve their goals while getting to be your own boss and call the shots. In being your own boss there are important decisions that need to be made during your Fitness Business Owner’s Journey. One of those decisions is whether or not you want to get support from a business coach or go it alone.
Mark’s Fitness Business Owner’s Journey Before Fitness Revolution:
Mark Greenwood chose to get business coaching from very early on in his career and has continued to get support throughout his career. Before starting to work with Fitness Revolution, Mark was struggling to get his business moving in a truly positive direction. He was doing OK, but he didn’t really feel like he was running a successful business. He was working as a full time physical therapist while also running his fitness business which consisted mostly of small and large group training. He rented out space in the basement of a church and out of a cheerleading studio for 4+ years.
At this point Mark was frustrated that no matter how hard he worked, it always seemed like he was just spinning his wheels. Mark had aspirations of where he envisioned himself professionally and as a business owner but he found himself constantly frustrated. His emotions were affecting him in a negative way. He felt like he was just constantly busy and had created two full time jobs for himself. Even though he was only trying to transition from one to the other. Though he had dreams about what he wanted, he didn’t know what steps to take to create a plan on how to get there.
Coaching Note: A lot of people can get stuck in this position. They’re trying to get away from the 9-5 and go on their own. There just isn’t enough time to build their own business up to a point that they feel comfortable leaving their 9-5 that is paying the bills. One way a coach can help with this transition is by creating a plan and looking for ways that you can work with your current employer to slowly transition out. Also, the coach will give you the confidence and help you to put what is necessary in place so that you don’t feel like you’re making a terrible financial decision. So many have done it before, gained their independence, and thrived. So can you!
Mark’s Fitness Business Owner’s Journey With Fitness Revolution:
Since starting with us, Mark was able to leave his full-time employment as a physical therapist. This was a huge relief because Mark finally felt like he was making progress. Soon, he was able to transition from a sub-leased space to his own facility. He has continued to see consistent growth since going full-time and moving into his own facility. Mark has paid off business debt and now has a team that helps him coach his almost 250 clients. In his FR coaching sessions, Mark never has a life rating below a 9 (on a scale of 1-10). He couldn’t be more pleased with the direction of his business and how much more in control over his time and effort he is. Mark drives his business by his core values and long-term vision now. Even when he gets a little distracted or interested in a new idea, he checks back in to make sure his actions align with his core values and long-term vision.
In Mark’s Own Words
“My best business decision has been accepting the invitation to join the High Performance Mastermind Program. It has skyrocketed my business in a way I wasn’t able to achieve before joining. Having Pamela as a Success Coach has been beneficial beyond measure. Whether it’s helping me develop a plan to achieve my long-term vision, conducting a monthly call to review rocks/metrics and overcome obstacles, or dealing with a day to day situation like the Covid-19 pandemic, having access to a Success Coach as well as the entire FR team has been truly “Essential To Life” for my business. Thank you for all that you do!”
