David transitioned into the fitness industry after a career in the automotive industry. He became personally interested in working out which led to getting certified and obtaining his first personal training position in 2007. After climbing the ranks of commercial gym management, David opened his first facility, Spark Fitness, in 2013 and steadily grew it until December of 2018 while simultaneously building a reputation as a valuable voice in the industry through speaking and published content. This led him to a crossroads in his career where he eventually closed his gym to dedicate all his time to coaching and other projects that allowed him to keep pushing the industry forward.
David holds multiple fitness certifications and still trains a handful of clients. He is a columnist for the NSCA Personal Training Quarterly and Personal Fitness Professional magazine and has been featured in multiple online outlets such as the Huffington Post, Personal Trainer Development Center, and Breaking Muscle. Additionally, David is a nationally recognized presenter at popular fitness industry events.
When he’s not working, David enjoys traveling the world on credit card points with his wife, Cindy. He also likes to read business books or biographies and spend time with his two dogs, Jaxson and Coco.
