A Tale of Two Resources: The Business Operating System and Your Lead Generation

Since you’re a business owner, you know what it means to grind. You’ve likely spent at least a few years doing that, and despite having a team under you and even more than likely by now being off the coaching floor every day–you still have a stark reminder of what it means to grind. You may even be feeling like you still grind somehow most days.

And, while you are further along than you were when you started your fitness business, you’re still seeking growth. You might be answering some average questions, managing the marketing outcomes, watching the bottom line, and the list continues. (Side note: please always continue watching the bottom line.)

A Business Operating System Designed For Your Business

The likely reason you’re still doing some of the tasks or roles within your business that you didn’t expect to be by now is that your business is lacking an operating system that makes sure everything is working together. Specifically, one that’s designed for you and your business. Not one off the internet or downloaded from somewhere that promises to be plug and play. While business principals are business principles, trust me when I tell you there’s no plug and play with small business.

And even worse, without the correct operating system in place, too many small business owners higher on the ladder dig themselves into a hole. Here’s how it happens. When there’s a hiccup in finances–all spending gets turned off. Yet, when finances are soaring, the expense review process doesn’t always have all the boxes checked off. In short, you’re in panic mode that could have been avoided–because it should not come down to cutting expenses out of desperation.

Avoiding Financial Urgency

Even more so, when there’s financial urgency in your business–the focus becomes all things lead generation and conversions with blinders on most everything else. And the sour note is this, all things lead generation should really be happening all the time–when the finances are climbing and if they’re dipping.

When your business functions with an actual operating system, one that’s developed for your current business model while preparing for what you expect out of the future of your business, you start to operate in a way that supports being an actual business owner. Not someone with a hobby that gets paid to show up.

That might sound harsh, but that’s what we know works.

Small business owners we work with who recognize the need for an operating system structure and accountability from a coach in their business, have continued to see financial increases within their businesses, even after being in business for 7, 10, or 15+ years.

After all, it’s not by accident that multi-million dollar company CEOs have executive coaches and their c-suite team also receive coaching. They aren’t playing a game, they’re positioning their brand for success, likely with a goal to sell at the right time, or perhaps invest in increasing their portfolio..

Leading Indicators in Your Finances

When you have an operating system, instead of constantly chasing leads, your lead generation is a part of your business operations. You also know the leading indicators to track to know if finances have the probability of being negatively impacted before they get there so you can course correct. A well developed operating system for your business also allows you to become the visionary in your business without feeling like you should be doing something (or everything) else.

  • Will it take effort? Yes! We don’t have the magic, overnight fix-it pill. We do have the resources, knowledge, and team to move you forward in your business.
  • Will it take time? Yes! How long it takes depends on you, and your willingness to be open and honest with your coach. We believe coaching is a partnership, one that’s built on trust, from both sides.
  • Do you have to do the work? Yes! Remember reading above? This isn’t a system you download and push play without giving thought to it.
  • Does having a truly open mind help? Yes! Instead of saying that would never work in my business, consider–How could that work in my business?

If moving away from the ‘chase’ aligns with the growth you’d like to see in your business, the operating system matters.
